waking early each morning to milk cattle. It also makes one diametrically opposed to drinking store bought milk! Along side his father, Kent learned the art of home maintenance. Arlis, a licensed electrician, was the neighborhood fix-it guy. Since Arlis was a single parent, Kent often tagged along. He paid attention both on the farm and out and about while his Dad, Grandpa and Uncle took care of things. It could be said that he cut his teeth on the smaller tractor the family affectionally called "Little C". If he wasn't on that tractor he was on the back of one of many horses that came and left the Vanattia farm. Soon Kent grew up and joined the Army where he learned to "jump out of an airplane and cook you breakfast." Jumping from 10,000 feet made learning to climb and top 60ft and 80ft trees a breeze! He's been climbing part-time since 1988. His general "knack" for home improvement enhanced by a tendacy to be both creative and meticulous made him eagar to learn as many skills as possible. After 11 years in Florida working in various construction trades, Kent had perfected his carpentry and painting skills. He most loves hands on building projects. Today, he specializes in custom built-ins and custom western themed accessories and even furniture. Kent had his own professional painting business when he lived in Dawsonville, GA and is an expert in that field. He handles all light electric work and has a licensed electrician on speed dial for complex issues or just for a signature, if that's all that is needed. Kent also handles most plumbing issues with ease and jokes that when you grow up milking cows you retain a finer knowledge of plumbing that the average person. Honestly, there isn't a lot Kent can't handle, but he's the first to tell you when he's not up to the challenge and he will be quick to recommend an honest, hard-working individual that is. Kent lives near Epworth, which is between Blue Ridge and McCaysville with his wife Tess, their three kids Wade ( 11 ), Sylviana (8) and Wyatt (5). Kent's wife publishes the South's largest magazine for horse lovers and they own four horses. Kent is an avid outdoorsman. He loves hunting, shooting sports, riding horses and scootin' around on a dirtbike once in a while.
